What is lyrical dance?

Lyrical dance is a style that blends ballet, jazz, and modern dance. It focuses on expressing emotions through smooth, flowing movements that match the music. Dancers use their movements to tell a story and connect with the audience, creating an emotional and beautiful performance.

Moonlight is our older lyrical team for ages 10-16

Please note 10-12 year olds will be placed on starlight unless they have previous dance experience.

Who runs sessions?

Our passionate and nurturing staff hold extensive coaching qualifications, enhanced DBS clearance and are skilled in catering to the strengths and needs of every individual, including children with additional needs.

Location
All sessions are held at our specialist gym:
The Forge, 1 Wallace Road, Sheffield S3 9SR
       •        Free parking is available on-site and on nearby streets.
       •        Accessible bathroom facilities are on site.
Please use the pedestrian gate on Wallace Road to enter the gym. The gate from the car park leads to our outdoor area and rear fire exit only. Ring the doorbell at the pedestrian gate on Wallace Road, and staff will welcome you in. For subsequent sessions, you can request the gate access code.

What to Wear
       •        Comfortable clothing suitable for movement and exercise
       •        Clean indoor shoes with smooth soles (important for stunting)
       •        Long hair tied back, and all jewellery removed for safety
We kindly ask adults to remove outdoor shoes when stepping on matted areas to keep our gym clean and safe.

Can Parents/Carers Watch?

We welcome parents/carers to stay during their child’s first session if needed. However, due to our small spectator area, we encourage alternatives such as running errands or relaxing nearby. Spectators are asked to:
       •        Minimise belongings brought into the gym
       •        Observe quietly to avoid distractions
       •        Keep pathways to the toilet and fire exit clear
Nearby supermarkets like Tesco Extra (Saville Street), Tesco (Infirmary Road), and Aldi (Flora Street) are convenient options for making the most of your time.
